Second Skin takes the concept of skin as identity to the next level by drawing on all sorts of ‘skins’ as inspiration.My preliminary sketches take us on a visual journey from the texture of beef tripe to the shedding of a snake’s skin, onto the ‘sea skins’ and scales of aquatic creatures, tattoos and even burn scars. The finished product? A collection of fantastical, inflated ‘outer’ and more subdued ‘inner’ pieces, a reflection on my own idea that what we display on the outside hides who we truly are on the inside.
